What Has He Done for You?

You’ll find the story in Matthew 8, Mark 5, and Luke 8. Jesus and His disciples sailed across the Sea of Galilee to the country of the Gerasenes to heal the demoniac. When the Lord cast the demons into the herd of swine, it rushed over the cliff and drowned in the sea.

But though the demons drove the swine to drown in the lake, they themselves didn’t drown with the pigs. I suspect they circled around and moved into the nearby cities and towns. And when the townspeople heard what Jesus had done, they asked Him to leave.

Not uncharacteristically, Jesus the Gentleman left. But before He got back into the boat, He instructed the healed man to tell everyone what God had done for him.

It’s easily been 70 years since America began to ask Jesus to leave our land. We did so tentatively at first. Satan rarely comes in a full frontal assault. From the halls of local, state, and national governments, to the halls of education, churches, and beyond, the push to thrust Jesus further and faster from our civic and our religious meeting places became bolder and more vocal with each passing election.

And here we are in 2020; Something else has filled our spiritual void, and we are drowning in our own demonic-inspired evils.

In the story of the healed demoniac, Jesus gave the man a simple instruction: Tell everyone what God has done for you.

America has made it clear to the Gentleman Jesus that He is unwanted in our nation. And not uncharacteristically, He never stays where He is unwanted.

But – and this is important – Jesus left instructions to those who yet call Him Lord: Go and tell everyone what God has done for you.

What has God done for you? How would He like you to tell it to others?
