When the apostle Paul addressed the learned scholars in Athens, he told them: “[God] made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth . . ..” (Acts 17:26)
Of course, this was not the only time the apostle referred to the historicity of Adam and Eve. For example, Romans 5; 1 Corinthians 15, and 1 Timothy 2.
Isn’t it sad how the apostle was so unaware – as moderns are now aware – of evolutionary truth? How many learned scholars behind pulpits and author’s pens now teach there was no such thing as a real Adam and Eve? They’re simply part of the myth of those first chapters of Genesis.
And since Paul was wrong about the first family, that also makes everything else he taught about Christ, about righteousness, and living a holy lifestyle as suspect. If he missed the mark with such a fundamental issue as Adam and Eve – then what else was he wrong about?
Of course, the apostle Paul is not the only writer of Scripture whose ideas are all now questionable. There’s Moses.
Since Paul was wrong about Adam and Eve, then so was Moses, because it was Moses who first introduced us to Adam and Eve. And if Moses was also wrong about them, then what else was he wrong about? What in the Five Books of Moses are also myths? The Ten Commandments?
All of this brings me back to what Paul, the backwoods country bumpkin wrote to the Christians at Corinth: “For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are. (1 Corinthians 1:26-28)
And what do we then do about Jesus’ prayer: “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.” (Matthew 11:25)
Christian, please listen. If your pastor is one of the ‘moderns’ who dispute the word of God when it speaks of the real persons of Adam and Eve – then you need to find another pastor.
I will repeat that for emphasis. You need to find another pastor if yours disputes the historicity of the one man, Adam, and the one woman, Eve – the first man and woman created by God and placed in a real Garden of Eden.
A little leaven leavens the whole lump. If you continue sitting under fools, be careful. You may end up like them.
