Clothed in Flesh -- Really?

I often wonder why it is so incredible, so unthinkable to believe the all-powerful creator of everything we can see and cannot see – why is it so impossible for some to believe He literally clothed Himself in flesh? I mean – He is God. What can He not do?

And why would He clothe Himself in flesh?

Because He loves us with an ache so deep in His heart, an ache that would not be soothed unless He walked with us in that flesh, broke bread with us in that flesh, and brought us to Himself with His death in that flesh.

And why is it so hard to believe He loves us so much – when He tells us He does?

"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God . . . And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us . . . "(John 1:10-14)

This post reminds me of the records St. Margaret Mary Alacoque wrote of her conversations with Christ, and also St. Faustina in her diary. We need to be reminded constantly of how much the Sacred Heart of Jesus truly loves us, and the joy He experiences when we turn to Him in adoration, praise, thanksgiving, petition, and simple love. Jesus is truly a Person but too often we don't treat Him that way.

When I teach Bible classes I sometimes ask those in the class what the had for dinner two nights before. Not surprisingly, very few remember. Even less if I ask what they had a week or two ago. The point being, most of us forget very easily from day to day most things we do. How much more need we to be reminded of Jesus' love, because the academic must always enter the heart -- and remain there. Thus, St. Peter wrote:

(2 Peter 1:12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them . . . . I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder . . . .
