Behold, days are coming, declares the Lord God, When I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but rather for hearing the words of the LORD (Amos 8:11).
Every now and then –
like now –
I long to hear
what prophets and saints
said of sin
righteousness
and judgment –
instead of what some
with academic letters
say they said;
“God doesn’t send
“God doesn’t send
calamities
or judgment
for our sins.”
“Sin,” they say
“Sin,” they say
“is its own judgment.”
But that is
But that is
not
at all
what God’s prophets –
men without academic letters,
but full of His Holy Spirit –
said.
Prophets like:
Prophets like:
or Jeremiah
or Ezekiel
Sometimes soon.
Sometimes delayed.
But always sure.
Perhaps
Perhaps
if we paid better heed
to God’s prophets
and our Sacred Tradition,
instead of modern opinions,
and our Sacred Tradition,
instead of modern opinions,
we would
as a Church and as individuals
be more passionate to
be holy as He is holy
to
pray, fast, repent,
and thereby avert
and thereby avert
the otherwise inevitable disasters
God’s prophets and saints warned of.
Every now and then,
Every now and then,
I long to hear
truth.
truth.
