So Jesus is once again annoying people with truth. He’s already called them hypocrites when we pick up the story in Matthew 15:
“Then [His] disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?”
Nothing has changed in 2000 years. People still get offended, people still get their ‘feelings’ hurt when confronted with truth.
Jesus,
of course, never knelt in homage to the political correctness of His
day. That’s why He answered: “Let them alone; they are blind guides of
the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a
pit.”
He didn’t kneel in homage because it is only TRUTH that
sets us free – free from slavery to sin and free from the wages of sin,
which is ultimately death.
So, what do we think Jesus would say
regarding truth to anyone today – regardless of title, position, or
privilege? What would He say about truth in our day of nearly
single-minded focus on political correctness?
And should we do any differently than our Master?
